A dream-like escape.
The idea behind our shoot for Heir waterpipes was fairly simple - we wanted to show what it felt like to smoke out of one of these beautifully designed pieces of equipment.
To do this, however, we wanted the mood shift to be entirely practical. We enlisted the help of several friends to aid in the surreal set changes that happen in our short video series.
Each one was timed with lighting and propping to invoke the sense of calm and relaxation when smoking your favorite blend.
Perfectly timed.
Doing this practically involved a great deal of coordination off-screen. There were rigged elements that would descend, plants that would roll in or bubble machines that would turn on at just the right moments to give the pieces their desired effects.
We also added on a small photoshoot to be as efficient with the client’s budget as possible. We continued the surreal atmosphere with classic still life portraits, with just the slightest bit of quirk to the propping, for the astute stoner.
